Local SEO services help your business show up when people nearby search for what you do, in Google’s map results and the listings below them. At Lekker Marketing, I improve local landing pages, strengthen Google Business Profile signals, refine keyword targeting and make sure your business details are consistent everywhere, so local customers find you before a competitor.
Based in Ilfracombe, North Devon, and working with businesses across Devon and the UK. Most local SEO work starts with a fixed-price SEO audit.
Want to talk it through?
Book An SEO AuditLocal searches come from people ready to act. Someone searching for a dentist, a solicitor or an electrician with a town name, or “near me”, usually wants to get in touch soon, not read around.
The volumes add up even in smaller places. In Exeter alone, searches for hotels, restaurants, dentists, estate agents, solicitors and trades that name the city run into the hundreds or thousands a month. Businesses that clearly say what they do and where are the ones that get found.
For North Devon specifically, see SEO in North Devon. For Barnstaple and Exeter, see SEO Barnstaple and SEO Exeter.

Google’s own guidance says local results are based on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your business matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the searcher. Prominence is how well known your business is, including reviews and how it’s referenced around the web.
You can’t move your business closer to every customer, but you can improve relevance and prominence. That means a complete and accurate Google Business Profile, a website with clear local and service pages, the same name, address and phone number everywhere, and genuine reviews.
Google’s guidance is here: How to improve your local ranking on Google.
What local SEO covers
Google Business Profile
Your website
Across the web
The work depends on what the audit finds, but it usually covers four areas.
Pages that clearly explain what you do in each area you serve, with genuinely local detail rather than the same page with the town name swapped.
Strengthening the signals that help you appear in map results: the right categories, services, business details and photos, kept accurate and up to date.
Matching your pages to how local customers actually search, including service and town combinations and “near me” style searches.
The same business name, address and phone number on your website, Business Profile, directories and social profiles, so search engines and AI tools see one consistent business.
AI tools and Google’s AI Overviews increasingly answer questions like “who’s the best electrician in Barnstaple” or “SEO agency near Exeter”. Those answers draw on the same signals: clear pages that say what a business does and where, consistent details across the web, and reviews.
Local SEO and AI SEO build on the same foundations. See AI SEO for more on how AI search chooses what to recommend.
It starts with an SEO audit that looks at your website, your local visibility and how your business appears across the web. You get a prioritised action plan written in plain English, usually within 14 working days.
You, your developer or your team can work through it, or ongoing support is available where it makes sense. There’s no long contract by default, and you work directly with me.
Local SEO is especially useful for trades, estate agents, hotels and holiday parks, which all depend on local searches.
How audit-led SEO works
Most projects begin with a technical SEO audit. It shows what’s holding your site back and what to fix first, in plain English.
Local SEO is the work that helps a business show up when people nearby search for what it offers, in Google's map results and the normal results beneath them. It covers your Google Business Profile, your website's local and service pages, and consistent business details across the web.
Local SEO focuses on searches with local intent, such as a service plus a town or “near me”. Google decides those results on relevance, distance and prominence, so location signals, your Business Profile and reviews matter far more than they do for national searches.
Most work starts with a fixed-price SEO audit, from £395 for smaller sites. Anything beyond that is quoted based on what the audit finds, with no long contract by default.
It's essential for map results, but your website supports it. Clear local and service pages, consistent business details and genuine reviews all strengthen how Google understands and ranks your business.
